Landon Bailey has experience with a wide variety of litigation matters, including securities litigation, copyright and trademark infringement claims, contract disputes, patent litigation, public nuisance actions, attachment proceedings, product defect claims and trade secret litigation.  Landon also has experience assisting with internal corporate investigations, advising corporate clients with respect to personal information and international privacy law, and advising technology-intensive companies in intellectual property transactions. 

 

Landon graduated from the UCLA School of Law, where he was a Moot Court Board member and Roscoe Pound Moot Court Competition semi-finalist.  During his time in law school, Landon also co-founded the UCLA Business Law Association, worked as a faculty research assistant, and assisted in teaching legal writing and deposition courses.  Landon was awarded the Nathan Burkan Memorial Award by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers for his article on natural rights and copyright law.

 

Landon received his B.A. in Legal Studies with high distinction and departmental honors from the University of California, Berkeley.

 

Representative Matters
  • Perry v. Schwarzenegger, representing Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and other state officials in federal constitutional challenge to California constitutional provisions defining marriage as between a man and a woman.
  • Tesoro Refining and Marketing Co. v. California Air Resources Board, representing intervenor trade organization in successfully defending against mandamus challenges to California regulations concerning fuel ethanol.

  • Proposition 83 Cases, representing Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in numerous state and federal court actions challenging the constitutionality of Proposition 83 (also known as the Sexual Predator Punishment and Control Act: Jessica’s Law), which prohibits registered sex offenders from living near schools or parks where children regularly gather.

  • Merrill Lynch v. Hartwell Construction Co., defending Merrill Lynch against commercial code claim alleging failure to honor stop-payment order on a check.
  • Larsen v. ABC, Inc., representing celebrity photographer asserting copyright and slander of title claims for unauthorized use and misidentification of famous photograph.
  • Spanos v. Ortiz, et. al., representing individual defendant in business dispute arising from dissolved construction supply company, negotiated favorable settlement for client.

  • Penney v. CLC, Incorporated, defending privately held company against a minority shareholder’s claims concerning management and corporate governance.

  • Security Savings Bank v. Private Party, defending an individual and his companies and trusts against breach of contract claims and in writ of attachment proceedings.

  • CanAm Minerals, Inc. v. Moore, defending individual against contract and conversion claims, and representing individual in cross-claims for trademark infringement, misappropriation, and breach of contract.

  • Transcription Communications Corporation v. John Muir Health, et. al., representing medical transcription company in RICO and business tort action.
